Ethica Solutions Awarded Cyber Essentials Accreditation

Ethica Solutions Awarded Cyber Essentials Accreditation

Guildford-based safeguarding and investigation company Ethica Solutions is delighted to announce that it has been awarded Cyber Essentials Accreditation, a UK Government-backed, industry supported scheme established to protect organisations against common cyber-attacks.

Launched in June 2014, the Cyber Essentials scheme is a cyber security standard against which organisations can be assessed and certified. It identifies the security controls in place within IT systems and mitigates the risk from Internet-based threats. CREST is the not-for-profit approved accreditation body engaged by CESG, the information security arm of GCHQ, to develop the assessment framework to support the Cyber Essentials scheme.  It focuses on five essential mitigation strategies:

  • Boundary Firewalls and Internet Gateways
  • Secure Configuration
  • Access Control
  • Malware Protection
  • Patch Management

To comply with guidelines, Ethica Solutions has undergone a detailed risk assessment to ensure it is protected against common cyber threats including data protection.  This assessment includes an intrusion detection scan.

Commenting on the Accreditation, Director of Ethica Solutions Steve Watts said: “All Government suppliers must be compliant with the new Cyber Essentials controls if bidding for new contracts which involve handling of sensitive and personal information and provision of certain technical products and services.  Business safeguarding and investigations are an integral part of our business so we value and support best practice cyber security standards and management.”
